Do any of the following sound familiar to you?
You feel like you give more to others than you get in return.
Other peoples happiness is more important to you than your own.
You go along with things just so you do not upset the status quo.
You go out of your way to avoid conflict with others.
You dont know how to ask for what you need in fact, you are often confused about what you want or need.
You feel angry or resentful about what you do for others.
About me and my practice
Being considerate of other peoples feelings and treating them with kindness is something we all generally try to do. However, sacrificing our wellbeing to make others happy is not. When you compromise who you are and what you need, these people-pleasing traits have crossed the line from kind and generous to self-abandonment not being your authentic self because youre afraid others will disapprove, criticize, or reject you.
Experience
If you recognise yourself in this and want to understand why and perhaps do something different, then I can help you.
As an attachment focused integrative psychotherapist, I can help you understand why you feel the need to behave in a certain way and how to change behaviours such as perfectionism, lack of boundaries, inability to communicate your wants and needs, and more.
